We start with Piazza San Marco –St. Mark’s Square- to understand why this place has always been the heart of the city for 11 centuries, we continue with skipping the line (April to October) to visit Saint Mark’s Basilica, the “Golden Church”, our unique byzantine church that was rebuilt in the XI century. The next step is the Doge’s Palace, the most important building as far as history and art are concerned, which includes the famous Bridge of Sighs and the Prisons of the ancient Republic of Venice.
